Tree of Life -An group show of artists at Gitanjali Art Gallery Goa

A group show of five Gond artists was held at Gitanjali Art Gallery, Panjim , Goa.The artists that participated were Raju Shyam, Manoj Tekam, Hiraman Urveti, Ramesh Tekam and Rajendra Kumar Shyam.The painting of Peacock and its ugly feet by Raju was definitely the show stopper.

Gond Tribal Art workshop at Welham Girls , Dehradun

I organised and facilitated an workshop at Welham Girls School.Artist Rajendra Shyam and Artist Santosh Maravi guided the students.The story of the "The Flying Elephant" , was to be pictorially depicted. It was wonderful to see the various creations by the girls.

Rajendra Shyam - Some select works

Rajendra Shyam, or Raju, as he is affectionately addressed, is a shy and unassuming young man. He has over the last 4 or 5 years made his presence felt in the Gond art market, with his bold and almost-symmetrical visual style.

Raju's work will be exhibited at the Santa Fe Art Market from the 13th to the 15th of July 2010.

Bhuri Bai

Bhuri Bai is a Bhil tribal artist, from Jhabua District of western Madhya Pradesh . Her near pointilistic style is so very similar to Australian Aboriginal Art....! Not surprising, really, considering the word Gondwanaland which is sometimes used to geologically describe Australia, is from the Sanskrit, meaning 'Forests of the Gonds'.

Ladoo Bai

Ladoo Bai is a Bhil artist, who hails from Jhabua District of Madhya Pradesh. Her main motiffs are flora and fauna of the region and the Bhil festivals and rituals. She works at the Adivasi Lok Kala Academy.
